Chemopause

So you may be wondering what the title to this post means. Well this week I started having hot flashes. I think I will rename them- Fire flashes. The first one I had was right after I had fallen asleep one evening. I woke up on fire! I was pouring sweat and my chest was so tight it felt like I couldn’t get a breath. Since then I have had many more of these fire flashes. It is said that chemo throws you very quickly into menopause or what they term chemopause. There have been many times I have had to stand in the freezer just to get relief. I can’t wait for the day that I am grocery shopping and have a fire flash. I think I will just go to the freezer section just to cool off.
I am doing pretty good this week. I still have to take naps when the girls take a nap. It works out great! I am also doing great on my diet. I know many people have asked what exactly do I get to eat. Not much!! Actually I have come up with some really great recipes. I thought I would start posting some of the things I cook. While they aren’t gourmet, they are really healthy and taste pretty good. My hope is that some of you might give them a try. So I thought I would do a Tasty Tuesday posting each week.

  1. You are AMAZING!! I love Wordless Wednesdays and NOW I will look forward to Tasty Tuesdays!!! I hope that the next time you do get a fire flash…..I hope you are close to a freezer in the grocery store! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!! Enjoy a peaceful week!

  2. Shelly: I don’t remember if we’ve ever sent you a new discovery of ours from one of our friends here in Tennessee. It’s called the http://www.hacres.com/hallelujah-diet. You might scan their web sight for some more recipes, as Terry our friend uses them and is following their program for weight loss. He claims they are truly refreshing and tasteful. He braggs about the lasagne made with zuchini for pasta. Haven’t tried it ourselves but he talks it up. Not sure if it will help with the flashes.

  4. Dear Shelly, you’re an absolute wonder! In all you’re going through, you think of ways to minister to others. You continue to be an inspiration! I truly think you need to write a survival guide once you’re free of this cancer. I believe you have every gift it takes to do that and the amount of good you would do for others would be incalculable. God is using you now and will continue to do so. And all your friends and family will continue to lift you up for healing and in praise for all He’s doing for you and through you.

    Love you

  5. Hopefully the fireflashes will pass soon or go further apart from each other. You deserve the nap each day, you get up early to walk every morning, get Jett ready for school, take care of the girls, that’s not even taking into account your strong determinaton fighting cancer. You are truly amazing and a great inspiration to everyone. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Its great to hear you are doing good! Thank God! And you know you are helping so many people with your posts. I can’t wait to see your reciepes. I wonder would they like them at potluck? Prayers continue to be with you and Praises too!
