Wordless Wednesday- Juice

This is what I put into my vege smoothie. Yes I have added Barley Max which just makes it taste even more like grass!! (And yes it is a bright hunter green color- Yummm!)

Jett loves to help mommy juice and gets very excited when it is time to juice.

Here is the finished product. Don’t let the color fool you, it doesn’t taste anything like you would expect. My sister said it smelled like a cow farm.

And here is me trying my best to get all of it down.

  1. Wow Shelly, it would seem that the dieticians could come up with a better flavored drink than a “cow farm.” It is real medicine — they say — and tastes like it.

I’m not promoting anything, but a good friend of ours here in TN has done a terrific job in getting his health back (diabetic and over weight) with the Hallelujah Diet. I’m sure you have been getting advice and/or testimonies of all kinds for cures. As I said, I’m making a sales pitch for http://www.hacres.com/home, but they do have some very interesting recipes with guidelines what their diet does. I’ve spent some time going through their web pages and find them very encouraging. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if you find some recipes that taste a lot better than a smelly cattle feed lot. Possibly, if you asked a double blessing on your strawberry/cherry looking shake, pleading with God to change the flavor, it might help. He is the miracle worker in big things, I’m sure He just might help out here too.
Let us know if you find anything better in the web site of Hallelujah Acres.

    • Thanks so much for the info. Actually many of my recipes do come from that web site. I think that the Barley Max comes from their website and that is what makes the smoothie taste so bad. When I found the website I was very encouraged that I am making the correct changes to my diet.

  2. Shelly,

What a good job you are doing!!!!
I guess you can take anything if you ask the Lord’s blessing on it. It does look good, but sometimes looks are deceiving. Just keep up the good work.
    Love you .

  3. I used to juice for my patient who had a bad bedsore that wouldn’t heal. As soon as I started juicing(parsley, carrots, celery, spinich, squash & zuccini) her bedsore healed within a week. Everyday, I would make a little extra for myself. It didn’t even look as good as your “smoothie” as it turned out a greenish, brownish color. I would drink it very fast and then chew a piece of gum to take away the taste right away!! Lol! I wish I still had enough self discipline to juice now that I don’t have to do it for that patient šŸ™‚ Good job!! You are definitely giving your body the best fighting chance with your diet & juicing…as you already know.

    Blessings,
    Sam

  4. Shelly,

I’m sorry it has taken so long for me to write… I have been “checking in” on you periodically, though. I am so glad to read about how well you are doing! You are a very strong, courageous, and determined person! I think it is great that you are taking a holistic approach to your illness. I listen to K-Love every day and there are certain songs that make me think of you.

I don’t know whether your interested or not, but I have a green smoothie recipe that is supposed to be very healthy and tastes good:

    1 banana
    2-3 handfulls of fresh spinach
    1/2 cup water
1/2 to 1 cup frozen fruit
    2 tbsp ground flax seed

I hope and pray that you continue to get better! Remember that God is with you and through him all things are possible. Please give John and the kids our love!

Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you!

    Love,

    Maria Rosenbohm

    • Sounds really good. I will have to give it a try!! I love the added flax seed as I have read it really is good for cancer patients. Also great way to get in spinach which has lots of iron (something I am always in need of) Thanks so much.

  5. I guess Steling doesn’t have any recipes on her page yet, but she is supposed to be working on getting some posted this week, I think.
